What is Executive Search?
Sometimes it’s easier to explain a concept by stating what it isn’t. Executive Search isn’t recruitment or selection. And while it is trendy for some recruitment companies to say they do Search and Selection, the bottom line is: its marketing hype. It’s virtually impossible for these two techniques to reside under the one roof. You wouldn’t go to a five star restaurant and expect they make a great hamburger and fries or expect a diner to make a fine soup. They both serve food but they are world’s
apart and neither is right or wrong, they simply serve different needs at the time.
Should I use Recruitment or Search?
If you believe the people you need for your business are working hard somewhere else and are unlikely to notice job ads, respond to job ads or be talking to friendly recruiters about finding them a new job, Executive Search is what you need. The old motto is “you can’t recruit those who are not looking”, so Search is the technique to tap into the top performers in other companies and to present them with a value proposition to consider your organisation.
If you believe the job you wish to fill will attract lots of response from ads and will get those looking for work motivated to talk to you then Recruitment is the right technique for you.
